In 1950, Dr. Shafik Sachedina was born in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. He became a British National when he moved to England as a teenager. He obtained his qualifications in dental surgery at the Guy’s Hospital Medical and Dental School at the University of London in 1975. He later trained as a dental surgeon at London Dental School.

He supports the Institute of Ismaili Studies, which was founded in 1977. He is the head of the department and it operates in 16 countries. Shafik Sachedina makes sure that the 16 branches’ activities run efficiently and smoothly. He is also in charge of delegating functions and roles. Shafik Sachedina is a committee member for Aga Khan Development Network. He volunteers to help Jamati institutions keep their budgets and events remain in accordance with their guidelines.
